I am Virginia Evans, certified write-in candidate for Mayor. I’ve proudly made Van Buren my home going on eight years. I pledge to continue serving you honestly and faithfully as I have in the past. 

I worked with a local nonprofit from 2019 to 2021 to keep citizens informed about our local city and county government and encourage participation 

I edited, published and delivered your local newspaper, the Local Newz  2022-23.

Currently I am retired, but I have managed a dry goods store in Australia, managed the office of a commercial Architect in Nashville, and managed an international account for an electronic components distributor. 

I’m focused on serving you. I continue to visit door-to-door, hearing your concerns and sharing my intentions. I'm at meet and greets, and community events. 

Here's where I stand on five points that serve you:

• Bitcoin and Data Centers - Our citizens have the right to Peaceful Enjoyment of Van Buren County. That means we protect ourselves from unregulated high impact data centers and bitcoin operations. 

                                  Update, based on your actions, signing our petitions and speaking your mind, and after I appeared before the commission in June to bring   

                                  up the subject, the full commission voted unanimously on July 20 to block Data Centers and Cryptocurrency miners for a two year period.

• Small Business is our Big Business - I have plans to encourage the development and growth of small local businesses. Because whether you run a cottage industry from your home or a regional concrete company, successful small businesses encourage more of the same. 
• Transparency - I support transparency in government service. That means we keep the Van Buren County website updated, the Van Buren County Facebook page updated, and we encourage you to attend meetings. And I’ll continue the open door policy of the mayor’s office.
• Updates - I’ll provide you with quarterly state of the county updates. No surprises on our financials. 
• Cooperating for Grants - I will work with our commissioners to take advantage of grants and other available funding to improve our county including our schools and our emergency services.
