I was there for you, providing information on state-mandated procedures for our mayor and commission, and sharing Van Buren County's actual practices for financial years ending 2019-2021.
The county's actions in commission meetings led to audit findings, and eventually to the Comptroller taking an oversight role with our finances in 2021. As a result, the mayor, the financial officer, and all commissioners were required to undergo training.
I broadened my service, covering our drinking water and sewage treatment issues, Van Buren School events and awards, FFA, 4H, community events, TDEC investigations, elections, property sales, and our small businesses. All this information landed in the Local Newz, which I wrote, edited, and distributed to Van Buren County from 2022-2023.
I was fortunate to have contributions from other writers, including Van Buren High School students, a state trooper, and locals interested in everything from animal rescue to spiritual ministry.
With a background in business and hands-on experience following the story of how our local government interacts with regional, state, and federal representatives, I feel confident that I will serve you well.
